Romlee Eco Gardens

Romlee Eco GardensRomlee Eco Gardens are a husband and wife team, and have been in business for the past 8 years.
Our eco conscious grew stronger when we could see what was happening around us.  Being out in it, we really felt the changes in the weather and saw what was happening to the gardens in front of our eyes.  We knew we had to do something about it.

As the current drought came out and slapped us on the face, we knew we needed to change the focus of our business.  We needed to promote drought tolerant gardens, change peoples thinking about water wise gardens and hopefully provide some insights and educate people in what we know.  Of course we are learning all the time as the climate changes around us and presents new challenges.

Self taught, our qualifications and experience are life.  We have worked in the gardening industry for a number of years now, and have always had a passion for it.  The bookshelf is full, the internet is a fantastic resource, but there’s nothing quite like hands on experience.  It never quite happens like the books!  Every job is a new experience, with it’s own set of challenges and learning curves.  Thankfully that’s the case, otherwise where would the fun be?

We love colour, as you can see from our website, and want to show that a drought tolerant garden isn’t boring, it’s just looking at plants in a different way.  Appreciating their foliage, their shape, their colour and not having to water them.  The last thing I wanted to be doing last summer was outside watering, so why water if you don’t need to.  It is our number one resource that is at threat currently.

By creating a waterwise garden we hope it inspires you to take a look around and see where else you can help reduce your carbon footprint.

Garden Designers

We can design and build whatever garden your heart desires, but will always try and steer you in the right direction as our environment changes and heats up.  Gone are the days of the water guzzling cottage gardens.  But it’s not all doom and gloom.  Roses are one of the most drought tolerant plants around, they just need a little more maintenance than others.

Think a drought tolerant garden means nothing but native plants, and that’s not your style?  Think again.  There is a new generation of plants on the market and some old ones that have been revived.  The possibilities are endless.

If you want to attract birds, butterflies and other wildlife into your garden, your gonna want a native garden.  They do require a bit of maintenance as far as pruning goes, but that's about it.

We incorporate feng shui principles into every design where possible, and this can be the focus of the design if that is your requirement.

All of our gardens are built with care from the beginning.  The soil is improved with organic compost and rotary hoed in.  This gives your garden the best possible foundation to start.  Just like painting, it’s all in the preparation.  When we build a garden, we build it to thrive and give pleasure for many years to come.

While your relaxing or playing in your garden, you can be comforted in the thought, that you have helped sustain our environment and be part of the solution to climate change.
