Sunrise Homes
Sunrise Homes is a Tasmanian based company committed to creating sustainable and highly energy efficient homes across Australia.
Sunrise Homes´ vision includes a housing industry and the entire housing stock across Australia no longer placing a burden on the environment.
This will be achieved through
> clean power supply to homes, such as solar or wind
> the use of energy saving materials, products and designs
> no further demands placed on clean water supply, through the use of water tanks and efficient designs, and grey water systems
There are already homes like this all over Australia. Homes that have been built new, renovated or simply families that have upgraded their home to be more eco friendly.
The good news is that now every home in Australia can be upgraded to be more sustainable in a way that is beneficial for your hip pocket as well.
The Green Home Guide includes examples like the home in Canberra that generates its power from the sun and has cut its water usage by 80% even under strict body corporate guidelines; a home right next to Sydney’s CBD that collects rainwater off its roof that is healthier to drink than the town water supply, a Melbourne home that has been a net exporter of power to the grid for over 10 years and cut their families main water supply use by 96%, and a home in Hobart that use the grand total of $1.80 to heat their home all year!
What began as a commitment to hard work and learning better methods for getting things done in the building industry has grown into a mission to spread the word that every home in Australia can be sustainable by following 4 simple principles. The search started with the Sunrise Homes Display Home that had the unique privilege of being launched by the Hon. Minister for the environment in Tasmania Paula Wriedt and then visited by the federal minister for the environment the Hon. Malcolm Turnbull. A rare occurrence indeed for members of opposing parties to be seen in the same place within a couple of weeks.
Sunrise Homes has developed 2 flagship products. The Green Home Guide for consumers and The Guide To Super Energy Efficient Housing for industry members.
